Josephine Gallmeyer (Josephine Tomaselli) 27 Feb 1838 - 3 Feb 1884 Austrian Soprano and Actress Her mother was the singer Tomaselli and her father the opera singer Michael Greiner. She was illigetimate, but after her mother married the actor C. Gallmeyer (1816-1867) and he accepter her as their child her last name became Gallmeyer. Josephine made her debut in Brünn when she was only fifteen years old. Nestroy brought her to Vienna in 1856, but their co-operation was little succesful. She returned to Brünn and only returned to Vienna in 1862 when Friedrich Strampfer engaged her at the Theater an der Wien. This time she quickly became a favourite of the public, singing in opera's, operettes and performing folk songs. She lived at the Praterstrasse.As director of the Strampfertheatre at the Tuchlauben (1874) she lost most of her fortune and she was was pressed by financial worries until her death, allthough she toured succesfully in the USA in 1882-1883.

MARIE CABEL ( Marie-Josèphe Dreulette[in Liège) (31 January 1827 – 23 May 1885) Belgian Soprano. Autographed 1866 She is probably best remembered for having created the role of Philine in Ambroise Thomas' opera Mignon. Cabel first studied voice in Liège with Bouillon, and, her father having died, gave music lessons to help support her mother. Cabel's younger brother Edmond also became a singer and in 1863 created the role of Hylas in Hector Berlioz' Les Troyens. Cabel studied voice in Brussels with Ferdinand Cabel and Louis-Joseph Cabel. In 1847 she gave a concert in Paris and continued her studies at the Paris Conservatory in 1848–1849. Cabel made her operatic debut in Paris at the Théâtre Chateau des Fleurs in 1848, and in 1849 sang the roles of Georgette in Halévy's Le val d'Andorre and Athénaïs in Halévy's Les mousquetaires de la reine at the Opéra-Comique, where she went almost unnoticed. Moving back to Brussels, she sang at the Théâtre de la Monnaie from 1850 to 1853 with greater success In 1852 she also appeared in Lyon,

Eugene Charles Caron 1834-1903 French Baritone Entered Paris Conservatory 1861 and studied singing with Paul Laget and declamation with Nicolas Levasseur he won one of the three First Prizes in singing.He was engaged by the Paris Opera that same year and made his official debut on 26 September 1862 as Count di Luna in a revival of Verdi's "Il Trovatore".He went on to sing leading baritone roles with the Paris Opera in a career spanning 25 years.He retired from the Paris Opera in 1886 and afterwards taught singing until 1900. Created Maître Jean in " Jeanne d'Arc" by Mermet 1876 and Enguerrand in "La reine Berthe " by Joncières 1878 he also sang in the world premieres of oratorios Les sept paroles du Christ by Théodore Dubois 1867 and La Vierge, by Jules 1880 and performed as a soloist in concerts of the Société des Concerts du Conservatoire, of which he was member from 1865 until 1873. Other roles included: Ashton in " Lucia de Lammermoor", Guy de Montfort in "Les vêpres siciliennes", Raimbaud in "Le comte Ory", Masetto in "Don Giovanni", Nélusko in "L'Africaine", Kilian in "Der Freischütz", Alphonse in "La favorite" , Le Comte de Nevers in "Les Huguenots", Hadjar in "Le tribut de Zamora", and Valentin in "Faust".

ZELIE DE LUSSAN (21 December 1861 – 18 December 1949) American Soprano Zélie de Lussan was born in Brooklyn, New York, to French parents , her mother was a soprano ,training with her mother, de Lussan made her operatic début in 1884 in Boston, Massachusetts, as Arline in Balfe's The Bohemian Girl.Augustus Harris engaged her to appear in the first season under his management at Covent Garden, London, and as Carmen she made the part "peculiarly her own." In London her successes included Zerlina in Don Giovanni, and, in 1897, Musetta in London's first performances of La bohème. Her singing greatly impressed Queen Victoria, and she was more than once invited to sing at BaImoral and Windsor Castle In 1894 she made her début at the Metropolitan Opera as Carmen, and appeared there for three seasons in roles including Nannetta (Falstaff), Zerlina, and Nedda (Pagliacci). In 1910 she sang Cherubino in The Marriage of Figaro in Thomas Beecham's Mozart season at His Majesty's Theatre .After her marriage in 1907 to the pianist Angelo Fronani she gradually retired, though she played Carmen as late as 1915

He sang at the Municipal Theatre in Leipzig and at the Komische Oper in Vienna as Buffo. In 1881 he participated in the Wagner tour of Angelo Neumann and sang later at the Bayreuth Festival. From 1883 he worked as a Tenor buffo as a member of the Court Opera in Berlin; he also sang at the newly founded German Opera House in Charlottenburg. In 1908 he was appointed Kammersänger . In 1933 he sang the role of Mime at the State Opera when over 70. Made guest performances in many major opera houses throughout Europe. He worked in Berlin as a singing teacher.
