Accidental Portrait

05 Mar 2015 10 8 415
I was trying to take a portrait of my wife in her studio today and found myself having all kinds of problems with light, reflections, skin tone and clutter. While I was reorienting my camera my finger hit the touch screen and the shutter went off. I jokingly said at the time, this will be the best shot.

Big Tree Coming Down

Remembrance Day

11 Nov 2014 15 7 435
TSC - Special Challenge Light and Sound : Pictures and Music Annie Herring: Old Soldier www.youtube.com/watch?v=_f4n0p1uVxM ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- In Canada we call November 11 Remembrance Day. My father served in the Royal Canadian Air Force at training bases in Canada. My mother became engaged to a British bomber crew member Jack Brickman from London. He trained at a bomber training facility in North Battleford Saskatchewan, Canada. He planned to come back and marry my mother after the war. His bomber was lost over Europe in March of 1945. We did not know about him until my mother died and we went through the items she left behind. I asked her once if she ever knew anyone who did not come back. She had that far away look in her eye and said yes, there were some she met that did not come back. Little did I know how deep that memory went. I have remembered him every November 11 since. I had an uncle who served in the army in the Italian campaign and returned.

From my street to yours, Have a Merry Christmas. TSC - Christmas stuff. Captured here is a rare event, a sunny day with snow creating a natural glitter for the holidays. The low sun in the sky was illumining the snow flakes and ice crystals as they gently fell on our street. HFF, Christmas 2015

My Street is a Christmas Card

19 Dec 2015 28 22 487
A rare event of snow with a blaze of sun coming in from the low light of the near solstice. It turned this scene of a neighbor's house into a Christmas card scene. TSC - Christmas stuff.
