Your tourist point of view is thoroughly legitimate. We are plugged with daily bad news on a regular basis as you are in your own country. You don't have any interest about our dramas here and this is quite normal. Nowadays, Mexico is supposedly a very dangerous country to avoid according to the universal news and Canada goverment websites for travelling Canadians, Nonetheless, I have been travelling all over the south part of this splendid country in 2011 for 3 months without never feeling I was in danger even in the most isolated road where I walked a lot. I went to wild beaches, big cities as Mexico, Guadalajara and others walking in narrow dark streets at night and I was never attacked or bothered by anybody on the contrary. I may be at the wrong place at the wrong time and be victim of violence while you could be on the opposite sidewalk walking peacefully.

I don't state that violence is omnipresent in Quebec but I sure state that violence is acting on a daily basis. When a man kills his 3 kids and wife in their house, you are not necessarely a witness on this scenery. When a teen is killed by his "friends" during a drunk party, you are not part of this party but that dramatic event occurred anyway while I was sleeping. I mean that life itself for many sick people is just no so important.

Drugs and criminality with the bad economic and social system along with so many more potential reasons I can't explain has transformed Quebec as a place where you are more vulnerable and exposed to danger than 40 years ago let's say.

Anyway, I appreciate a lot our friendly and respectful debate about it.

Finally, Quebec is a place where people commit suicide much more than in any others countries. I am not proud to tell you this but this is reality.
