Kontorhaus Nr. 45:
Sitz der Reederei HAPAG-LLOYD ist dieser repräsentative Bau an der Binnenalster. Er wurde ab 1900 vom bekannten Architekten Martin Haller begonnen, die Erweiterung und Fertigstellung erfolgte 1921 unter Fritz Höger. Der Bau trägt seit 1997 den Namen des ehemaligen Firmenchefs Albert Ballin.
Albert Ballin (1857 - 1918) wurde 1888 in den Vorstand der HAPAG berufen und war ab 1899 deren Generaldirektor. Er machte aus dem Unternehmen die größte Schifffahrtslinie der Welt.
