Der Name ist auf die Kronprinzessin Victoria - einer Tochter der Königin Victoria - zurückzuführen. Geboren am 21. November 1840 im Buckingham Palace heiratete sie 1858 den preußischen Kronprinzen Friedrich Wilhelm.

König Wilhelm I. von Preussen (später Kaiser Wilhelm I.) benannte nach einem Spaziergang (1865) diesen Aussichtspunkt nach seiner Schwiegertochter (siehe PiP).
