Holy Trinity Anglican Church, on the Churchill River in northern Saskatchewan. Completed in 1860, it is the oldest extant building in the province, and a Heritage Property.

Sunrise, the dome

I had taken several photos of the dome from the southeast corner of Saskatchewan's Legislative Building when the sun rose above cloud along the horizon. The glow of the sun transformed the image from good to great.

This is the third church on this site. The parish served German Catholic families who migrated from Crimea between 1908-1912.

One house-Two houses

I've seen a few similar houses with an addition grafted onto the original structure. My hunch is that the wood frame building was the original, with the stucco-on-frame added when the farm became more successful.

I've hear estimates that this church can hold from eight to 12 people. Whatever the number might be, this is a tiny church.

Indigenous people have been camped in Wascana Park for many days, close to the provincial legislative Building. One person in the camp said, "Our office, their office."

Ruzicka house 3

This poplar log and mud house was built around 1912 by a settler named Ruzicka, according to my friend who owns the land where the house is located. Taken shortly after sunrise on August 6, 2018.

As far as I know, very few poplar log and mud houses are still standing in Saskatchewan. as the elements take their toll. This one was built around 1912, and will eventually return to the earth.
