All Saints, Watrous

22 Jun 2013 124
This stained glass is more than 500 years old, although the church in Watrous is just over 100 years old. The window was removed from a church in England during Puritan times, then re-installed, and then removed again and presented to the first pastor at All Saints in Watrous, who transported the window in 2000 pieces to Saskatchewan. Bonne Madonne

Interior of church at Bonne Madonne, Saskatchewan. The community of the same name was never more than about 150 souls, but is now just a name on maps. Do not use this image on blogs, websites or other media without permission. © 2014 William Armstrong. All rights reserved.

Concrete arch

18 Jul 2014 1 142
Concrete bridges with their graceful arches were built all over Saskatchewan decades ago, but many have been abandoned. This bridge over the Qu'Appelle River once carried traffic on Highway 6, north of Regina.

Bayard pump

01 Aug 2014 149
This gas pump stands outside what I presume was a general store in the hamlet of Bayard. Since it was a hot, sunny day, i decided to give the image a bleached look, rather than using colour or completely black and white. Claybank Kiln

01 Aug 2014 120
Not really a building, but a beehive kiln at the Claybank Brick Plant National Historic Site. The plant opened in 1912, and eventually had 10 beehive kilns firing face brick and high-temperature bricks for industrial purposes. Davin Church

Davin Church was built in 1903, and is located on a hill surrounded by fields, a few kilometres from the community of Davin. Do not use this image on blogs, websites or other media without permission. © 2014 William Armstrong. All rights reserved.

abandoned home

30 Jun 2015 108
This was once someone's grand home, located on a rise overlooking the countryside. The haze is from forest fires burning hundreds of kilometres away. Do not use this image on blogs, websites or other media without permission. © 2015 William Armstrong. All rights reserved.

Sometimes photos of old buildings, etc., work better in black and white. Almost all of the colour has been removed from this view from a window in an abandoned home. Do not use this image on blogs, websites or other media without permission. © 2015 William Armstrong. All rights reserved.

rainbow arch

10 Jul 2015 1 109
I find these concrete arch bridges very attractive, and a challenge to photograph. This single-arch bridge was once part of Highway 6, spanning the Qu'Appelle River. Do not use this image on blogs, websites or other media without permission. © 2015 William Armstrong. All rights reserved.
