Flöttergraben

Flöttergraben was built as a drainage ditch in the 19th century. With the creation of Müritz National Park the outflows were blocked to let the landscape revert to its original state of moor and bog. In May the water was covered with pollen from the alders growing around it. www.mueritz-nationalpark.de/cms2/MNP_prod/MNP/en/Homepage/index.jsp Flöttergraben war einer der Entwässungsgräben im Bereich Specker See/ Binnenmüritz, die verschlossen wurden, um die ursprüngliche Landschaft wiederherzustellen. Hier war das Wasser komplett mit Pollen (hauptsächlich Schwarzerle) bedeckt. de.wikipedia.org/wiki/M%C3%BCritz-Nationalpark

Wienpietschsee

Wienpietsch lakes are two moor lakes in Müritz National Park which are completely surrounded by forest (mainly birch, alder, pine and some beech). They can only be reached on foot or by bike, a boardwalk leads round the southern lake. In summer grass snakes can often be seen lying in the sun (see inset photo).

A very belated happy New Year to all Ipernity friends. Sorry about my absence, Christmas and the start of the year have been busier than expected and now I'm off for a fortnight's holiday. See you in February!
