Hytter near Ørnes
Holiday cottages (hytter), most with their own boathouse, are an important part of Norwegian life.
Svolvær
Slight northern lights over Svolvær (view on black!), soon obscured by a snowstorm.
Shot with Irix 15mm f/2.4
In the note: stars and moon near Stormolla, the very faint green was visible only on camera
First snow
Rounding the SE corner of Senja on the way to Finnsnes
Autumnal Straumsfjorden
Autumn colours and fresh snow in Straumsfjorden, Ryøya on the left. The mountains in the background are on the far side of Balsfjorden.
Magerøysundet
Reindeer (the small white dots in the bottom half of the main photo, also see PiPs) gathering on the shores of Magerøya.
They are brought over to the island in spring via barge and in autumn (strong and well nourished) swim over to the mainland on their own.
Vadsø morning
The airship mast on Vadsøya was used by Umberto Nobile and Roald Amundsen on their North Pole expedition with the airship Norge in 1926, and again in 1928 by Nobile with the airship Italia.
Prestøya
SC 69- Seasons
Autumn colour in Kirkenes, in the far northeast of Norway near the Russian border. The shore of Prestøya is known for its many seabirds (wrong season, I only saw eiders and sandpipers) and is a joy to explore at low tide. Vegetation is mainly birch, arctic willow and a few rowans, and lots of berries (crowberry, blueberry and whortleberry) and mushrooms/toadstools in autumn.
Friendly trolls
SC70 - What makes you smile?
Alternatively- Northern Lights (clickable). I always have a near demented smile plastered on my face whenever they move over the night skies;-)
