Ursprünglich 1973 als Focus-Kino eröffnet (Arch.Gunnar Bøgeberg Haugen), wurde das Gebäude ab 2003 völlig entkernt und, umgebaut nach den Plänen von HRTB Arkitekter AS, 2005 als Bibliothek wiedereröffnet. Beim Umbau blieb vom Kino lediglich das freitragende Betonschalendach im Stil des Architekten Félix Candela (Candela-Schale) erhalten.

The eagle and the puffin are new artworks made from plastic waste collected on clean-up trips on the island of Magerøya. They are a collaboration between the 7th grade of Honningsvåg school and Linda Hansen, Bente Floer and Erica Kimberly.

The former shipyards of Trondhjems mekaniske Værksted (TMV) were turned into a new neighbourhood with housing, shops and bars/restaurants. Some of the old machinery, dry docks and cranes were preserved.

This uninhabited 296m high island is very conspicious from Hammerfest, it lies in Sørøysundet like a huge piece of rock.
