Hverarönd high temperature geothermal field sports fumaroles, solfatares and mudpools. It lies at the foot of Námafjall and is part of the Krafla volcanic system.

Danke, Ellen! Hier läuft man am besten immer auf der windabgewandten Seite;-) Aber ich glaube, die Gase hier sind nicht akut gesundheitsgefährdend- ein bisschen faule Eier eben...

Dagegen stößt der derzeitige Spaltenausbruch 450kg SO² pro Sekunde! aus- und das seit mehr als 2 Monaten...

Nee, das hier ist nicht gesundheitsschädlich. Eher im Gegenteil, sagte jemand ;-)
Das, was auch Holuhraun rauskommt, ist eine ganz andere Liga.

Die Krafla-Feuer sind auch schon lange vorbei:-) Viellicht dürfen wir in einem Vierteljahrhundert in Holuhraun auch ein paar hübsche Thermalgebiete bewundern-oder einen neuen Schildvulkan!

Das was aus Holuhraun/ Nornahraun rauskommt, ist wohl 200 Grad heißer als normalerweise in Island, direkt aus der mantle plume und deswegen so übel gashaltig. Bin gespannt, wie es da weitergeht-irgendwas scheint sich gerade zu ändern...

Wow Tom, Thanks for all the favs! This is an active rift zone, there are also geothermal power plants. It reminded me a little bit of Rotorua...
