Tolle Skulptur. Schöne Komposition. Das Foto und auch der Titel gefallen mir.

"The bowman"., missing his weapon, thus meant to be left to the imagination ;one of two statues at the entrance to Grant Park, made in Zagreb I'm told by the sculptor Ivan Meštrović (installed in 1928)..the other one being "The Spearman"..
It is good to put it in context there I think " to commemorate the Native American and symbolize the frontier struggles that birthed the United States, depicting natives atop horses in dramatic battle poses"
History condensed in one pic !! ! And it looks anachronistic here now in front of the urban buildings of Chicago; such a contrast, and striking it is ..

oui : c'est cette présence anachronique qui m'a interpelée ...

Nice photograph that brings strong memories from my youth. When I was a boy in Chicago, this American native statue, obviously missing the bow in his left hand, was unsettling for the absence of the weapon. I assumed it had been vandalized and I could not understand why it was never repaired. Only recently did I discover that this was an intentional omission by the sculptor to focus the viewer on the man and horse, a clever device I think. The sculptor is Ivan Mestrovic, a Croatian artist. This and a companion piece of a native American seeming to hurl a spear (also missing), were installed in 1928.
