Sunset beer climb up a rock peak. Not a bad trip considering our car was back at the rental place in Sparks. It ultimately got us home, and it turned out the bonked transmission was a dislodged sensor. It was a $300 fix instead of a feared rebuild. Got lucky and gained some respect for what can happen if you lose your wheels in the desert.
