Shakespeare's birthplace, Henley Street, Stratford upon Avon.

Shakespeare's birthplace, Henley Street, Stratford upon Avon.
From 1564. It was threatened with demolition in the 19th century, to be sold and sent to America brick by brick!
HOMES AND GARDENS!

Nice to see it in sunshine. Our day trip to Stratford was the wettest ever. We sat on the lower deck of the Guide Friday double-decker tour bus, with water pouring down the stairs, from the open topped upper deck. The guide didn't bother with the p/a system as we were the only ones on the tour. He came a sat by us. I think that the sad thing is that Stratford, from the limited views we got, seemed to have isolated pockets of old historic buildings among a lot more recent developments. It didn't give the impression of an old town.

Oh dear Phil! Yes I went on that tour too - dry though! - Had a similar feeling about the town, especially the jarring shopping centre, the Shakespeare birthplace entrance building was an eyesore too!
