Dassow - St. Nikolai

Dassow - St. Nikolai
A settlement, conveniently located on the road from Lübeck to Wismar, existed here in the 12th century.

After a lengthy conflict, the Bishop of Ratzeburg waived his share of the bridge toll of the Dassow Bridge over the Stepenitz to the Lübeckers in 1219.

The early Gothic Nikolai Church was built from granite ashlar in the second half of the 13th century. The church was severely damaged by fire in 1632 and was rebuilt from 1633 on. So the brick parts may the younger ones.

The church was locked, so I could not see the granite baptismal font from the 13th century.
