Schloss Berleburg
Schloss Berleburg (Castle Berleburg) is located in the old quarter of Bad Berleburg. A first castle was built here in 1258. This castle was aquired by Siegfried II of Wittgenstein in 1332. When Siegried had died, it was inhered by his son in law Salentin von Sayn inherited, who is the founder of the house Sayn-Wittgenstein. Since then it was continuously inhabitated by the family Sayn-Wittgenstein for over 600 years.
Though of course the building has changed a lot over the last 600 years. The three-storey center wing was built around 1730. It got rebuilt in 1902.
