Contradiction

Contradiction
Contradiction

It might be the divergence between True
and Magnetic South, this splice between
shadow and reflection. If I stand here
long enough, and let my feet get wet,
I can see the shadow shift and lengthen,
the minute hand of a slow clock that
wanes and waxes. The dark reflection
is more fickle: disappears as the sand
drains, flickers back with the coming
wave, is struck through with the white
trail of sunlight on the brink. I wait,
listen, calibrate, take stock of my hidden

contradiction.

I love this image, it has an enigmatic quality. The shapes the incoming waves make are fascinating.
