Wonderful capture. Not 100% sure on the ID. But almost sure it's a bromliad of some sort.

Thank you Tess I think Fizgig is right for the id the Bromeliaceae are to big although the flowers are very similar

They're Aloe blossoms.... Without being able to see the leaves, it's impossible to say which type of aloe, though -- they are hundreds of possibilities.

Thank you very much Fizgig the flower shape and form are the same as the Partridge Breasted Aloe which is often grown as a houseplant here

If you say so.... I mean, you saw the plant in person so only you'd know what the leaves look like ;) -- do note, though, that there are quite a few Aloe varieties with "zebra striped" leaves. You can always check with the botanical garden whose collection you found this in -- they should have a database of what plants are in their collection. IF you're really set on a definitive ID that's the best route to travel ;)
