JC Madge - looking down at the deck. JC Madge is a41' pulling / sailing Liverpool class lifeboat, ON 536, powered by 16 oars (which could be doubled manned). She served at Sheringham from 1904 to 1936 and saved 58 lives in 34 launches, no medal services but she did manage to break a leg - that of the "Hon Sec" during a launch on 9/2/1924. Her launching carriage was built by the Bristol Carriage and Wagon Company and delivered (free) by rail, it is equipped with what are now known as "Tippings Plates" to help prevent the wheel sinking into soft sand or loose shingle.
