I've got a couple of families of magpies in my garden and usually they are quite good and well behaved, but they are taking risks going where the seagull chick is and they get nipped regularly by the parents.

Just looked them up on line and our Magpie (there's some disagreement) may be the same species. Hard to get photos of them, though. They are very skittish.

Thank you Ron. A tip for magpies. Ours too are skittish. However, they don't take much notice of cars which are all around every day. Put a few peanuts down around a car and sit in it. Open the window and photograph them when they are feeding on the peanuts through the car window. It works very well here. One from a car window :) flic.kr/p/2duoMKh
