England had to wait until the dawn of the seventeenth century, 1604, to get its own dictionary. This representation that first indication of a challenge to the rest of Europe, as it was eight years ahead of the first Italian dictionary, and thirty-five years before the French. Although, to put it in a rather longer perspective, it was eight hundred years after the first Arabic dictionary and nearly a thousand years after the first Sanskrit dictionary in India. ~ Page 121
