Great Central Railway Swithland Leicestershire 25th October 2015
After running from Loughborough to Swithland Up Loop double headed; Peckett 'Yorktown' class 0-4-0ST "Teddy" and NER Y7 0-4-0T 1310 with two coaches we came off to let 1310 run round. Another shot taken from the headshunt as we prepared to operate passenger trains on the new Mountsorrel Branch.

A colourful scene in more ways than one, all very well presented.
There does not appear to be much space for using fire irons and I guess it has to stop every few hundred yards to pick up a bag of coal ;-)

Thanks. In fact there is no space. Full stop! You can't even swing a shovel. I fired her on a couple of trips and, just like Teddy, you have to get on your hands and knees and fire by hand.

We had a flatbed truck at Nunckley and every other trip we stopped to fill the coal bunkers. Interesting day it was.

A nice breeze when running 'bunker' first... A cute looking loco. What was its reason for being?

It was built as a shunter so rarely went as far as this off sidings. Clearly they didn't consider the comfort of the crew. The cab is so small you can't swing a shovel. I hand fired it. A cute engine but not very practical.
