There are still reminders of the internal railway system at the site of the Rochester cement works that was operated by Rugby Group until 2000. The closure of this works brought an end to all cement production in the Thames and Medway area.

The Industrial Railway Society held its 2012 AGM at the Midland Railway Centre at Butterley. Services on the line during the day were operated by industrial locomotives.
