Camphausen shafts 2 and 4
The Camphausen colliery at Fischbach-Camphausen was sunk in 1871 with two deep shafts and in 1874 a third shaft was added. In 1908 the fourth shaft was sunk with a hammerhead winding tower made of reinforced concrete which was completed in 1912. The Federal Chamber of Engineers has designated it a historic engineering landmark. The tower has a height of 40.7 metres and stands on four supporting pillars, each eleven metres below the ground. On the top floor there are two electric winders by AEG, each with an output of 1740 kilowatts.
The colliery became absorbed into the Reden-Camphausen mining complex in January 1990 and coal mining ended here in November 1990.
