Goodbye Longannet
Longannet power station had a generating capacity of 2,400 MW and was operated by Scottish Power. It was completed in 1973 and at that time it was the largest in Europe. In addition to coal it is capable of burning biomass, natural gas and sludge. It closed in March 2016 after missing out on a contract with National Grid and the chimney was demolished on 9th December 2021.
