Padeswood cement works
Heidelberg owned cement works near Mold, North Wales. The No.4 kiln replaced three earlier ones and cost £63 million. It is 65 metres long with a 95 metre preheater tower that feeds in raw materials. Alternative fuels to be used at Padeswood include Cemfuel, which is processed from the residue of recycled waste solvents, and Profuel, which comprises paper and plastic wastes. Vehicle tyres can also be used as an alternative fuel.
