Polderweg - Polder road

Polderweg - Polder road

– – –

Where I have been wrong is a question I could ask myself. There was no difference in manual shooting in with or without exposure compensation. So overexposure was done in post processing. Later I found out I had to set the camera to ‘aperture priority’ (Av) and then it works. However, I never use that setting.
On the photo a straight cycle track through the polder of the Purmer. Originally the Purmer was a lake in the peatland of Holland. Under the influence of human cultivation, storms and swell the peatland subsided and the Purmer became larger and got a connection to the sea. In 1618 a dike was built along the edges of the lake, in 1622 the lake became land. The land surface of around 26 km2 is around 4 meters below NAP. Roads, fields and ditches were laid in a rigid rectangle pattern.

For music some classic polderpop and as Volendam is only a few km away (The Cats originated in Volendam).

Holland gained land from the sea due to courage and hard work of the people, building walls, protecting the polders....

Beautiful result. Love the dreamlike quality. A perfect pov and ace symmetrical composition. An immediate fave for me. Very much liking the musical choice too, Dierderik :-)
