Animated Character

01 Feb 2017 2 2 369
Recently I ran across this old character who told me, "I was quite a dandy in my day, son. In fact, if you don't mind me tooting my own horn, I have still got it! Mark my words, some day I will be a star in one of those new-fangled animated films, just you wait and see!!" This photo was taken by an Asahi Pentax 6 X 7 medium format film camera with a SMC PENTAX 67 1:4 45mm lens using Fuji 400-H film, the negative scanned by an Epson Perfection V600 and digitally rendered with Photoshop.

Smelling Sweet

Like it's cousin in Belgium, www.ipernity.com/doc/berny/48163194 , The Skunk Train sits idle with generations of memories of it's journeys along the Redwood Route. It is, however, still operational and provides thrills to tourists each summer. A new coat of paint might give it a bit more class. This photo was taken by an Asahi Pentax 6 X 7 medium format film camera with a SMC PENTAX 67 1:4 45mm lens using Fuji 400-H film, the negative scanned by an Epson Perfection V600 and digitally rendered with Photoshop.

The Final Word

Instead of using profane language when discussing sensitive topics online, I shall just post this photo. It will save a lot of energy and verbiage, since we all know that a picture is worth a thousand words! Street Shot

In a change from my normal subject matter of Nature and Landscape Photography, I have headed into a local neighborhood to record their way of life. This community needs a sturdy fence to prevent residents from being led away from the straight and narrow. Deviation from the path could lead to a fall from grace. This photo was taken by an Asahi Pentax 6 X 7 medium format film camera with a Super-Multi-Coated Takumar/6X7 1:4.5/75mm lens using Kodak Portra 400 film, the negative scanned by an Epson Perfection V600 and digitalized by Photoshop.

Unobstructed

Fortunately, the minimalist fence does not block the spectacular view. It also does not provide much security for absent minded photographers focusing their cameras, who may tumble the 1,000 meters to Yosemite Valley below. The Grim Reaper (Half Dome) sees all. This photo was taken by an Asahi Pentax 6 X 7 medium format film camera with a Super-Multi-Coated Takumar/6X7 1:3.5/55mm lens using Kodak Ektar 100 film, the negative scanned by an Epson Perfection V600 and digitally rendered with Photoshop.

Ferocious Beast

09 May 2013 8 9 528
Every once in awhile I find myself in position to do my civic duty when on one of my photo safaris. Recently, I stumbled upon a ferocious beast that had escaped from a nearby secret genetic laboratory that is reanimating ancient extinct species. I cornered the savage animal against a fence armed only with a Hasselblaski mounted with an ARSAT B 2.8/80mm lens. The dangerous creature hesitated, wary of the impressive medium format film camera long enough for the staff to tranquilize him, returning the dangerous animal to lab compound. I had to promise not to reveal the location of the lab, but feel that it is my obligation to the public to uncover the truth about this hideous program. This photo was taken by a Kiev 88C medium format film camera with an ARSAT B 2.8/80mm lens and Чф-1ˣ 62x0.75 filter using Ilford HP5 Plus 400 film, the negative scanned by an Epson Perfection V600 and digitally rendered with Photoshop.

Perpetual Summer of Love

That summer in San Francisco in 1967 was a long time ago, but people of all generations still assemble from time to time to celebrate life, friendship and music. www.youtube.com/watch?v=671AgW9xSiA This photo was taken by a Zenza Bronica S2 medium format film camera with a ZENZANON 1:2.8 f=100mm lens and Hoya 67mm Skylight 1A filter using Fuji Pro 400-H film, the negative scanned by an Epson Perfection V600 and digitally rendered with Photoshop.

Impact Zone

11 Oct 2017 19 19 586
The news cycle is full of discoveries of new exoplanets and asteroids, some of them in trans-Neptunian orbits extremely far away from the sun with others orbiting closer to the earth. The study of these objects is important when considering the 'impact' such bodies might have to life on our planet. A sturdy chainlink fence curbs my curiosity as I attempt to get the perfect angle for a photo of one such collision that occurred 50,000 years ago. This photo was taken by an Asahi Pentax 6 X 7 medium format film camera and SMC PENTAX 67 1:4 45mm lens with a HOYA HMC 82mm O[G] filter using Rollei RPX 400 film, the negative scanned by an Epson Perfection V600 and digitally rendered with Photoshop.

The Journey Up

18 Sep 2018 2 3 385
It is said in the Hopi creation story that Sotuknang caused a Great Flood to destroy the world when the people moved away from his ways. The remaining people who had hidden underground fled to the surface. I believe that I have found the route that they took so long ago, although the pathway may have been somewhat improved since then. Instead of using reeds to float to the surface of the Great Flood I have used a Nissan Armada SUV for practical purposes since the waters have subsided. I did make it to the surface and my journey into the new world above was epic. This photo was taken by a Kowa/SIX medium format film camera with a KOWA 1:3.5/55mm lens and Zenza Bronica 67mm SL39•3C(UV) filter using Kodak Portra 160 film, the negative scanned by an Epson Perfection V600 and digitally rendered with Photoshop.

The Rise and Fall of a Great Wall

A note to want-to-be kings and emperors: Even the Great Wall of China failed to keep the Huns out of the sacred homeland. This photo was taken by an Asahi Pentax 6 X 7 medium format film camera and SMC PENTAX 67 1:4 45mm lens with a HOYA 82mm HMC Y[K2] filter using Adox CHS 100 II film, the negative scanned by an Epson Perfection V600 and digitally rendered with Photoshop.

Cinnamon Confection
