So subtle, the way the soft light seems stratified through the foreground and background, creating abstract layers around the swift, rhythmic vertical patterning of the trees. Very satisfying to the eye: complex and soothing simultaneously, a real pleasure.

Many thanks Steve - this was a drizzly Christmas day... I could tell that the background would play through quite nicely.

I always find it technically quite difficult photographing trees on brighter days, since there is such a sharp change in contrast as they protrude up across the horizon... half the photo ends up as a silhouette, and the other half in gloom.
