Porcupine tracks in the snow

We came across these Porcupine tracks at Carburn Park on April 19th. I think this was the first time I had ever seen a pattern like this in the snow. Hope the little guy has a clearer path by now! It did snow heavily again yesterday, but most of it didn't stick to the ground, just the grass was rather white. The forecast for today was more snow, but this afternoon is nice and sunny. Snow/rain showers for tomorrow and chance of thundershowers tomorrow afternoon (up to 8C).

: )

My youngest daughter, who had to move back to Calgary from Vancouver this year, hates our cold Calgary weather! I just couldn't resist making her this "card", from a photo I took while birding yesterday morning at Carburn Park! This is a view over the Bow River, showing the icy cold vapour rising off the water. Further back, along the edge of the river, though, the sky was blue, the sun was shining and every branch and blade of grass was covered for a short time with beautiful ice crystals. Truly a winter wonderland. Just so you know I can be kind, the actual "paper" birthday card I sent Rachel had on it a wonderful field of golden Sunflowers, LOL! Happy Birthday, Rachel!

Mirrored

Canoe classes were going on when we went for a walk at Carburn Park yesterday morning. I happened to catch the canoes lined up on the bank of the lagoon, along with their reflection.

Following in Mom's footsteps

Love that natural instinct that comes right from the beginning - stay close to Mom : )

Up, up and away

LOL, this is what happens when you've gone a few hours without seeing a single bird close enough to photograph! A hot air balloon passes overhead (at Carburn Park) and .... click! 18X zoom, by the way, LOL.

Out for a family swim

A very typical photo of a family of Canada Geese, swimming on one of the lagoons at Carburn Park.

Left, right, left, right ....

These are the first Canada Goose goslings that I saw this year, down at Carburn Park. Still at the cute and cuddly stage : )

American Robin

I still miss the little, round English Robins, even though I have lived in Canada almost 31 years now. The large American Robin is beautiful, of course, but it just isn't as cute as the English one : ) This one was enjoying the sun in the parking lot at Carburn Park.

Lagoon reflections

Just a tiny section of the lagoon reflections at Carburn Park, taken on 30th September. I think my favourite parts are the two small Spruce trees. This afternoon, we had an almighty wind that scooped up and redistributed all our fallen leaves!
