Fire and ice

Yes, it's here : ) Now my photo focus has to turn from fungi, wildflowers and insects to winter themes, such as this ice-fringed autumn leaf. The snow that fell heavily yesterday has already disappeared, thank goodness, but this morning I had to scrape a really hard layer of ice off my car windows before I went over to Bebo Grove, Fish Creek Park, for a three and a half hour walk. The temperature was about -3C when I left the house. No sign of the American Three-toed Woodpecker today, but we did see a Boreal Chickadee again, and a Townsend's Solitaire atop a very tall tree. I'm always happy to take a quick shot or two of leaves fringed with wonderful ice crystals.
