Deep in thought
This is Kakinga, a Western Lowland silverback Gorilla and leader of the troupe at the Calgary Zoo. His most recent child is Yewanda, born in July 2008. He was enjoying some time outside in their large area. That was two days ago - today, they will be inside, because we are having a very unpleasant snow storm this afternoon! Everywhere is white once again : ) And to think, this morning, I was on a walk and photographing Prairie Crocuses, LOL.

"Western Lowland Gorillas are part of a Species Survival Program authorized by the Association of Zoos and Aquariums (AZA) and are considered endangered by the World Conservation Union (IUCN). Their last chance for survival may be a few gorilla sanctuaries in Africa, zoos, and other captive environments and breeding programs throughout the world." From the Calgary Zoo.
