On thusday 21st April, Rome celebrates its 2773th birthday in what is more commonly known as the Natale di Roma.
This annual celebration commemorates the founding of Rome by Romulus in the year 753 BC.

Il Natale di Roma, anticamente detto Dies Romana, è una festività laica legata alla fondazione della città di Roma, festeggiata il 21 aprile[1].
Secondo la leggenda, narrata anche da Varrone, Romolo avrebbe infatti fondato la città di Roma il 21 aprile del 753 a.C. La fissazione al 21 aprile, riportata da Varrone, si deve ai calcoli astrologici del suo amico Lucio Taruzio[1].

Infine il maestro Proietti ha chiuso i suoi speciali auguri alla città di Roma con un sonetto da lui dedicato alla Città Eterna:
Iersera, nun lo so perché (succede)
m'è venuto da dì "Roma è 'na sintesi".
E lo dicevo in tutta bonafede,
nun lo coprivo entro a ‘na parentesi.
"Roma è bella ar passato e ner presente!"
m'è parso ovvio e pure un po' banale.
È ‘na bella città sì, veramente
ma se te viene in mente Corviale….
Sintesi allora delle zozzerie
dei monumenti, de le coruzioni
delle sincerità, delle buscie.
Certo sì, ce stà er bello e ce stà er brutto.
"Ma allora Roma è sintesi de che?"
A coso… Roma è sintesi de tutto".
