Wider Waddesdon Estate View

Wider Waddesdon Estate View
This was taken from within the grounds of Waddesdon Manor. I think this view includes part of the Windmill Hill Walk that I have yet to complete in its entirety :-)

If I am correct hidden away in the distance is the 'Flint House'. I can just about make it out at full screen :-)

Extract from the Waddesdon Manor website -
“Winner of the RIBA House of the Year Award in 2015, the Flint House was commissioned by Lord Rothschild and designed by Charlotte Skene Catling of Skene Catling de la Peña. In the form of an elongated, stepped wedge, Flint House sits in the heart of the Waddesdon Estate, on a chalk seam that runs from Norfolk to Dover. It was exploring this geology which inspired the architect, Charlotte Skene Catling, to create a building clad in flint which seems to erupt from the surrounding earth. The flints, knapped by hand by Sussex flint-workers The Flintman Company, are graduated in colour, steely grey at ground level rising to smooth white chalk blocks at the top. Facing the main building is a similarly stepped, smaller annex. The interiors of the house were designed by David Mlinaric.”

The various patterns and layers are fabulous, well framed and composed! Once you know where to look it's easy to see Flint House. A very interesting building!

Thank you very much, Gudrun. And, I'm pleased you found it easy to see the Flint House :-)) I believe the house is now privately owned but in the Spring I may see if I can take a few shots a bit nearer to the house :-)

Not an area I know very well, but your picture shows some beautiful countryside.
Maybe another to add to my ever growing list of 'must visit'!

Thank you very much, Rosalyn. Yes, I recommend putting Waddesdon Manor on your 'must visit' list :-) Waddesdon is only some 6 miles from home and we would visit very occasionally. But, this year I have started to visit regularly and realised what I had been missing :-)
