Sand Springs Pony Express site

Not so well preserved here! Sand Springs, near Sand Mountain, Churchill County, Nevada, USA, is the site of a Pony Express station that was excavated archeologically in the 1970s. The Pony Express ran for only a year and a half, being quickly rendered obsolete by the telegraph, but found a permanent place in American folklore. This is probably because the showman Buffalo Bill, of "Buffalo Bill's Wild West Show," had been a rider briefly in his youth! Here's the Wikipedia writeup: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pony_Express
