Sierra Nevada - Echo Lake

On the Tahoe Rim Trail (which here coincides with the Pacific Crest Trail) north of Echo Summit. The first time, we took the water taxi across Echo Lake on the return trip. The second time we took it both ways! They take dogs--$5 per dog, $12 per person, one way.

Showing the direction of the prevailing wind. Yes, I'm fascinated with these improbable high-altitude stands of trees much more familiar in the foothills scrub! This one is off the Pacific Crest trail, which here coincides with the Tahoe Rim trail, above the Echo Lakes, California.
