Tensioning weight, Belmont Mill

This box filled with rocks was used as a weight to tighten the tramway cable. This way, you didn't have to move the weight as a unit. Just add rocks to the box, each of which was easily carried by hand, until it was full. Pretty elegant, really-- ;)
