South Rim from near Tanner Rapids

South Rim from near Tanner Rapids
In a section where we were taking samples in the Proterozoic Dox Sandstone, a redbed unit that looks a lot like the much younger units elsewhere in northern Arizona and Utah. Looking south; the Desert View tower is visible as a skyline blip right in the middle of the pic. Tanner Canyon is the prominent canyon to the left; the Tanner Trail, which comes down from the rim, eventually drops into it. I did it as an overnighter with some friends in college--couldn't do _that_ now! ;) The colors are a bit weird because the original slide was underexposed, and there are limits to Photoshop, but I thought there might be some historical interest-- ;)
