Artificial nest

This needs some explaining. Is this art or an emergency point for anyone who needs a piece of rope or string for a rescue attempt?

LOL! This is on a wildlife management area, and these are nesting sites built for raptors. In lieu of a big tree... I don't know whether the bits of nylon rope were chosen by the birds and just have lasted better than natural twigs and grass, or whether the nests were built prepackaged with them.

They do look rather strange...
