Quarry, Aztec Sandstone
Red Rock Canyon Recreation Area, southern Nevada, USA. In the early 20th century (1920s, IIRC) there was an attempt to quarry the sandstone for decorative stone. It foundered due to sheer remoteness and the onset of the Depression.

Yeah, it's amazing to think that people were actually trying to quarry decorative stone here nearly a century ago. It was really the back-of-beyond then!
