Uploaded for the Vintage Photos theme Park Theme of "stores." Possibly a gas station, but I'm going to go with "car supplies store."
I think I found this in Essex Junction, Vermont
Written on the back, along with the date:
Wm Quick gave this to me.
Her Best Dress

Uploaded for the Vintage Photos Theme Park theme of "Fashion - in its day."
Such a teeny waist! I love the floral print and the lightness and gauzey-ness of this dress - even though the illusion is upheld by whalebone and stays!
Found Photo in Vermont.
Where's that Damned Fox Gone?!

I know it's really a dog, but that's what I always think when I look at this glass plate negative. : )
Uploaded for the Vintage Photos Theme Park theme of "On the Farm".
Double Cuteness

Posted for the Vintage Photos Theme Park theme of "Seeing Double".
My son saw this right after I walked out of the store in Niles, California, and exclaimed, "Oh, that was taken with a Petzval Portrait lens."
He could tell by the way it was blurred in a circle. He is interested in lenses.(!)
This is pre-1920 - but I can't remember the exact date - which was written on the back. I'll have to find this and post later.
Well...many years later I've finally gone back and searched out the date!
Written in faded brown ink on the back: Aug.12th, 1911.
Family Outing

I love double headers! Here is a photograph that fits this week's Vintage Photos Theme Park theme of "Signs" with a family posing in front of a Mount Washington sign, AND it's also a shoo-in for my Vintage Miserable Family group!
Mount Washington is in New Hampshire, and had the first mountain climbing cog railway - first ride was in 1868. The cog railway is still in operation.
Found photo. Burlington, VT 2016

Posting for the Vintage House Proud Group. It almost (but not quite) makes my Vintage Stairstep Group!
Found photo in one of two wonderful bins in an antique shop in Burlington, Vermont a few weeks ago. They were closing, so I only had a short time to look through hundreds of pics - I hope to go back soon.
Proud of Her
Miserable On A Mountain

Another shoo in for my Vintage Miserable Family group.
I hope this was an unhappy moment and they were all a lot happier in reality.
That poor woman looks really sad.
Probably c. late 1940s.
All Dressed Up and Grumpy

Found photograph, Vermont. (East Middlebury?)

Posted for th eVintage Photos theme Park theme of AGILITY - ACROBATICS, BALANCING, GYMNASTICS.
This is a little lame compared to all the fantastic pictures posted for this week, but here they are - probably early 1920, a wonderful group of friendly women.
I have quite a few of this crowd (library truck ladies, the roller skate woman) - and I love the spirit that comes through in all of them.
Found photo, Vermont.

THE FLIP SIDE (what’s on the reverse of a photo) - for the Vintage Photos Theme Park theme.
"Taken at Margate -
July 1952 -
with grandson
Paul -
died one week later."
Though the pen color is different, I think this is the same person writing later. Anyone think differently?
(The pencil scribbles are the price and my note on when and where I bought it.)
Margate is a popular seaside resort. Or it was, not sure about now.
"Horsey, Horsey, Don't You Stop!"

The title is the song we sing when our kids are rocking on our rocking horse. (See Family Rocking Horse Album, if interested).
Uploaded for the Vintage Photos Theme Park theme of "Rocking Horses".
This is a found photo with no information on the back. I'm guessing this is 1930s/40s.
Found in Burlington, Vermont n April 2016.
Wrap-around Porch

Found in Ferrisburgh, Vermont and going into the Vintage House - Proud People Group.
This is a RPPC with AZO marks indicating a 1904 - 1918 date.
This could be almost any town in Vermont. In fact, it looks just like a street in my town!
No written information on the back.
Twins?
|
|
|
I think so, but I'll be a daredevil and without proof, commit them to my Vintage Twins Group. They do have different colored eyes, at least that's how they appear, but apart from that they resemble twins in my eyes. What do you think, everyone?
This is a RPPC with AZO marks indicating a 1918 - 1930 date.
Canadian House

|
|
For the Vintage House Proud People Group.
This is a RPPC from Canada (can't read the date or town, but it's a King Edward stamp, I think) sent to Mrs. P.D. Forbush, E. Granville, Vermont, U.S.A.
The message says:
"Guess who."
This is a sweet house - bungalow style, but a different style than typical Vermont Bungalows - it looks more western to me. I find the landscape odd. It looks very rough. Perhaps it's just very new construction. It also looks like the tops of very large trees have been lopped off. Or burned.
Grumpy Stairsteps

Here's a few vintage photographs for my sadly neglected groups.
This is a twofer!
It qualifies for the Vintage Stairstep Group and Vintage Miserable Family Group.
Found in Ferrisburgh, Vermont, this is a RPPC with the AZO marks indicating a date between 1904 and 1918.
New Baby - New Car?

Posted for the Vintage Photos Themes Park theme of "Family Car".
I found this photo in Burlington, Vermont, along with quite a few others of this young woman - in college, with her new baby inside the house, and getting ready for a dance. She has a lovely face, I think, although it's slightly out of focus in this photograph.
Written on the back:
"Seven weeks".
