Dreams of summer picnics in the dead grass, no snow days of February, 2012.
This is the second batch of glass plate negatives that I purchased.
I got them in Brattleboro, Vermont, Feb 6, 2012.
I bought five of them - very cheap. The dealer has written "Dummerston, VT" on all of them.

Brought forward for the Vintage Photos Theme Park theme of : IN DISGUISE OR IN COSTUME and reposted for HHF!
It appears that these ladies are wearing Japanese kimonos. I remember hearing that there was a craze for Japanese "things" in the early twentieth century.

Elegant Quebec Gentleman

From the Beveled Mirror Victorian Album.
The third of three loose photographs in the album.
The imprint says: S Belle Fraserville, Que.
This has a tissue covering that flips over the top. The richness of the tone does not really show up in this upload.
Pope Leo Xlll

From the Bevelled Mirror Victorian Album.
The second of three loose photographs in the album.
I don't know anything about church history. He has a kind face - guess this is why there were so many males named Leo in Ireland.
I imagine this was a card, mass produced, to give out to parishioners.
Novelty Photo

One of three loose photos tucked into the Bevelled Mirror Victorian Album. I don't own any other novelty photos like this, but I know many of you have tons of them.
Must have been a laugh riot in its day, and still pretty comical.
That's a dog, not a rug, under the table, by the way.

I dropped my son off at school after Spring Break, and couldn't resist going back to the "Dummerston, Vt glass plate place", where I found more Dummerston glass plates (yay) and a few others.
The dealer had labelled this one "Brattleboro, VT?." and I do think that's very likely.

This is a tiny photo, about 1 inch by 2 inches.
Found in Ferrisburgh, Vermont - I think.
Teeny Tiny
|
|
This tintype is 1 and 1/4 inches by 7/8ths of an inch - definitely the smallest one I own. The frame is made of what looks like pressed copper or colored tin.
I would be very interested in hearing what people think of the date on this. Does 1860s seem too early for it?
Even though it's tiny, it's clear enough to see the sweetness of this little child's expression and the pinked up cheeks.
I'm pretty sure I got this in Ferrisburgh, Vermont.

Bevelled Mirror Victorian Album.
Classic walrus mustache with a balding pate.

Photograph #3
Bevelled Mirror Victorian Album
This woman is wearing what looks like a cloth collar with the name "Josie" seemingly part of the collar. I don't know if that's her name or she's wearing it in rememberance of someone or some other reason like a club or society.
I've never seen anything like it before. Has anyone else?
Taken on June 21, 1894.

West Yorkshire Girl

|
|
I haven't seen many of these off the shoulder dresses on girls as old as this.
This looks like 1860s to me.
She looks rather disagreeable.
