Very good ;¬)

During WWII my dad was posted to RAF Moreton Valance, south of Gloucester City, only just across the Severn from his parents home in the Royal Forest of Dean, Gloucestershire.

They were all told that if they saw any aircraft out of the ordinary flying over the 'drome, other than Germans of course, that they were not to talk about it to anyone.

No sooner the word than the deed and there came an ear-splitting whistling noise and a 'plane whizzed across the airfield at low level and my dad turned to his mate and said “I know this sounds daft but that plane had no propeller!”

Thus was Dads first sighting of a Gloster Meteor Jet and a little later he found out they were being made and tested just up the road at RAF Brockworth which is just outside Gloucester City.
