The organisor of the Rotterdam Christmas market wants more of the German atmosphere next year, however “there are no pints of beer or glühwein, because alcohol is prohibited in the city centre.”

It can be easily enforced for pubs or festivals, for individuals who walk around drinking alcohol perhaps less so, but if they behave disorderly whilst drinking alcohol, they can be dealt with.

A Christmas market without glühwein, punsch or jagertee doesn't sound very appealing though. In Berlin there was also glühwein with schnapps.
