Engine series 1000 was the first electric engine for the Dutch railways. It was not very successful, but they stayed in service from 1948 to 1982.

I would imagine the ex-steam loco driver thought it a fine loco as he sat in the dry, and warmth of the cab on a soft seat ;¬)

I doubt that he would have had a soft seat. And it is pretty warm behind a steam boiler.
