Amazing machinery, I fear most folk have forgotten what a huge leap was made in manufacturing, farming etc with the advent of steam.

Didn't say it was 'a good thing', just that it was a huge leap (historically speaking), whether good or bad for mankind as a whole remains to be seen, for those individuals who were made jobless it was very bad.
