I drove to Waterloo (Belgium) today. About 200 km from Leiden.

There was much confusion for years about the seeming disparity of contemporary descriptions of certain actions of the battle relative to the landscape which has very recently been resolved by computer simulation.

Turns out that all the soil used to build the mound had totally altered the levels of the surrounding countryside.
