That's a first for me - seeing fireworks in daylight ;-)

I think it was dusk, but yes it does seem unusual. The reason was that it was a timed sequential lighting of beacons across the whole length of Hadrian's Wall and Segedunum was the first to go. The fireworks followed this. Any later and the last beacon would have been too late, I think.
