Gosportarians Car and Bike Show, Walpole Park, Gosport.

Poor weather threatened the success of this event but there were some interesting and beautifully cared for vehicles there. I am very grateful to be able to photograph cars which I did not capture in their and my younger years.

I don't think I've ever seen anything quite like this before. I remember the Marina as a slightly dull family car but that possibly just shows my ignorance of motor sport of the era.

I was both fascinated and incredulous to see this. The Marina's cornering ability was not the best, but perhaps the suspension of this one was adapted to improve that deficiency. On the other hand, the presentation here looks to be largely cosmetic rather than mechanical. I bought one like it secondhand out of economic necessity. It wasn't set up as well as comparable Ford models of the time, but it did the job well enough if you ignored the rust. Better than a Lada, for sure.
