Pictures taken in good visibility and hazy sun (like this one) can be more pleasing than those taken in bright sunlight. The DR is better accommodated; the shadows are less harsh, the tones are smoother and the colours more subtle.

Dynamic Range. The extremes of light and dark which in bright sun, the camera cannot capture with a single exposure setting, which consequently come out over- and under-exposed.

When this occurs, the shadow areas become blocks of solid black containing no detail, and worse, the highlights (normally the sky, clouds and light walls) are pallid, washed-out and blank.
